This guide names all five — and tells you what to do about each one. “Secrets to Fixing the Top 5 Garden Woes” is free and written by a Certified Professional Horticulturist with more than 30 years guiding homeowner gardens.
No commitment — just clarity.
of plant deaths trace back to improper watering
of garden failures start below the surface — in the soil
of plant failures come from the wrong plant in the wrong place
And when they compound over time, the stakes rise:
78% of real estate professionals say poor landscaping is the primary reason a property’s value falls short of its potential.
(Trees.com commissioned-Pollfish Survey 2021)
Turns out, all three have one place to start.
Begin the Garden for Life Roadmap with a side-by-side walk of your property. In 2 hours, we uncover the root causes behind your Garden Woes so you have a clear path forward.
Share your Garden Story to request a Garden Tour Conversation — what’s frustrating you and what you dream of instead. We’ll send worksheets with your appointment confirmation to help you prepare. Get ready to discover what your garden has needed all along.
Together, we’ll uncover what’s working, what’s not, and explore design ideas for a refuge that supports your life and nature. You’ll have a Garden Fix-It List, Design Notes & Resource List: the clarity and direction to move confidently toward a beautiful, sustainable garden you’ve been reaching for.
The transformation starts here. Building on our conversation, we’ll co-create your landscape design, step by step, so you won’t be figuring this out alone. Season by season, through Build It and Nurture It, we’ll keep the conversation going until your yard becomes the refuge you dream of.
No commitment — just clarity.
“Very early on — honestly, within the first part of every meeting —
we both felt ‘Oh, this is really working.’
The reason was simple and consistent:
you listened carefully and didn’t make assumptions.
You were gentle but clear in guiding us toward a better approach
than what we initially had in mind, combining oratory with insight
in a way that helped us see the “right” garden path —
both practically and aesthetically.
The gardenside manner (as opposed to bedside) you brought, combined with encyclopedic knowledge of plants and architecture and an uncanny vision for what’s possible, inspired a result that exceeded what we could have hoped for on our property — a British-style, flower-infused landscape.”

The Replanting Cycle — Buying and replanting, season after season
You find a plant you love, bring it home, and tend to it carefully.
When it doesn’t take, you try again, because you’re not someone who gives up on their garden. But without knowing your soil, drainage, and site conditions, even the most determined homeowner is working against the odds.
The Chemical Fix — Herbicides, pesticides, and home brews
The weeds and pests don’t stop — so neither do you.
Sure, that can quiet things down for a season, but it addresses symptoms rather than causes. And those treatments quietly damage the soil ecosystem you’ll need when you’re ready to grow something beautiful.
The Quick Hire — Hire a contractor to get it done
You hand it off — a landscaper comes in, installs plants, lays mulch, and it’s a relief, at least for a while. But without a design rooted in your site’s conditions and your vision, the result tends to be generic rather than yours. The same problems resurface, and the garden still doesn’t feel quite right.
Where your garden story starts —
a 1:1 conversation that gives you clarity, confidence, and a clear next step.
In 2 hours, you’ll have more than answers.
You’ll have direction — and the confidence of knowing where to start
Your investment: $225 for the first two hours.
We’ll check-in at 90 minutes and go as long as you need.
Payment due at conclusion.
No commitment — just clarity.
To do this thoughtfully and with intention, Kate limits the number of Garden Tour Conversations scheduled each week.
Your garden is waiting — time to start the conversation.

Meet your guide.
I came from high-tech. Good career, wrong fit. Designing gardens with art and science, perfect fit.
Kate Easton — landscape designer, Certified Professional Horticulturist, ecoPRO, and founder of Garden Vision LLC — with more than 30 years reading what a garden needs and more than 350 GardenVisionScape designs.
MS, Agriculture, Washington State University (graduate study: sustainable horticulture) and Landscape Architecture studies mean every design decision is rooted in science and design principles, not instinct.
Your Garden Wishes deserve a design that’s co-created with you, grounded in your site, and yours to grow.
The GardenVisionScape was built for homeowners who want more than a template and a downloaded plant list.
Begin with one conversation. I’d love to hear your garden story.
If you’re still reading — your garden is probably ready for this. And so are you.
No commitment — just clarity.
Before we meet, you’ll complete a short worksheet — so your questions are on paper, ready to share in telling your Garden Story. I check in mid-way and at the 90-minute mark so we stay on track, and you stay in the driver’s seat.
If we hit 2 hours and there’s still ground to cover? We keep going. This is a real conversation — the kind that gives you what you came to know.
You’ve already done the hard part: you kept reaching. Past the failed plants, the treatments that wore off, the contractor work that never quite felt like yours. The missing piece isn’t more effort. It’s knowing what your garden needs.
The Garden for Life Roadmap meets you where you are — one conversation uncovers what your yard has needed all along. A GardenVisionScape puts it on paper, yours to keep and build from. Garden Vision Academy travels with you through every season, so you’re never figuring it out alone.
Your garden is waiting.

Yes — and that’s the whole point.
The Garden Tour Conversation is a walk through your actual yard. We’re looking at your space together, talking through what’s working, what isn’t, and how you want to use it. You can’t do that over email.
If you share the yard with a partner, we ask that both of you join us. Two perspectives are better than one — and decisions tend to stick when everyone’s been part of the process. We offer Saturday appointments for those who work weekdays.
One payment. Due at the end of our walk-through.
The Garden Tour Conversation is a single fee — paid when we’re done, not before. No deposit, no milestone schedule. By the time we wrap up, you’ll have your Fix-It List, Design Notes, and Resource List in hand. Then you decide what comes next.
Yes — a little beyond it, too.
Our primary service area is the Kitsap Peninsula, which extends beyond county lines. A handful of clients just outside that boundary have worked with us too, with a modest mileage fee added. The Garden Tour Conversation happens at your property — that’s where the useful work is.
If you’re entirely outside the service area, Garden Vision Academy is a great fit. The Resource Library, Office Hours, and Community Conversation Room are available anywhere.
During the Garden Tour Conversation, we look at all of them: size, topography, sun exposure, soil. Each one shapes your Fix-It List, your Design Notes, and every plant recommendation. Choosing the right plant for the right place works on a shady half-lot the same way it works on a sunny flat one — the conditions just inform different choices.
Many of our clients have small yards. The size never limits what’s possible — it shapes the design.
Yes. Many people book it for that reason.
The GTC isn’t a sales call for the next thing. It’s a 2-hour diagnostic — a professional walk through your yard that surfaces root causes, clarifies your options, and gives you a clear Fix It List you can act on right now. A lot of clients hold onto it for years and come back when they’re ready for the next stage.
You don’t need to be ready for a full design to benefit from knowing what your yard needs.
Garden center staff know their store’s inventory well and can point you toward what you’re asking for. Some have nursery training. What they’re not set up to do is diagnose your yard’s root problems or create a site-specific plan you can use.
Landscape contractors build gardens. Most learned on the job; some completed construction management programs. Washington State requires a contractor’s license because the structures they build must be structurally sound. Many are skilled builders — fewer are trained designers, and most don’t produce scaled architectural drawings a homeowner can implement independently.
Landscape designers and architects do produce design drawings, backed by academic credentials and mentorship. The range of training varies widely — from self-taught garden designers to licensed landscape architects.
Design & Build firms combine design and installation under one roof. The diagnostic piece — the “let’s figure out what’s going on in your yard” conversation — usually isn’t part of what they offer. You’re hiring them to build, not to advise.
Garden Vision is different in specific ways.
The credentials span both design and science:
But credentials aside, the bigger difference is the model. Most homeowners don’t know a conversation can surface the root cause of their Garden Woes and give them a clear path forward. The Garden Tour Conversation is where that happens. Most homeowners assume these options are interchangeable. They’re not.
More than 30 years and 1,000+ homeowners in. That leaves you with something specific: a Fix-It List, Design Notes, and Resource List — and one clear next step.
Not even a little. You haven’t seen mine.
Storm debris waiting to be cleared. Plants in pots still looking for their permanent homes. Evidence of dogs on a mole hunt. A garden is always a work in progress — that’s not a flaw, it’s how a garden ecosystem responds to change, following Nature’s rules not ours.
What you’ll get is curiosity, not criticism. And advice backed by more than 30 years of science and experience.
