The knowing changes everything.

Your Garden Is a Community.

When you understand your garden as a living community, the relationship changes — and so does the garden.

Garden Vision Academy is where that understanding grows — organized around the Garden for Life Roadmap, guided by Kate Easton, Certified Professional Horticulturist and ecoPRO.

Secrets to Fixing the Top 5 Garden Woes

A free guide from Garden Vision — the foundation of partnering with nature starts here, written by a Certified Professional Horticulturist with more than 30 years guiding homeowner gardens

No commitment — just clarity.

Your Garden for Life

A beautiful, sustainable garden doesn’t just change your yard — it changes how you feel.

Research shows that everyday exposure to “greenness” is associated with lower stress, better sleep, improved mood, and even reduces long-term health risks.

Learn how to give nature’s restorative powers a home.

Building and nurturing a garden as a living community takes time. Garden Vision Academy walks every season of the Garden for Life Roadmap with you — from first plantings to a refuge that restores your spirit.

  • Understand why your garden does what it does — the relationships between soil, season, and plants that reveal how the living community works.
  • Learn to see what your garden is telling you. Season by season, the patient observations that become Slow Knowledge.
  • Follow the Garden for Life Roadmap through every phase — so every question, every discovery, every season connects to the bigger picture.
  • Bring your questions to a community guided by a Certified Professional Horticulturist — more than 30 years of experience in homeowner gardens, not an algorithm.

A trusted voice in West Sound gardens for more than 30 years.

Our clients are people like you — they tried to solve this on their own first. Here's how the story usually goes.

The Replanting Cycle — Buying and replanting, season after season
You find a plant you love, bring it home, and tend to it carefully. When it doesn’t take, you try again, because you’re not someone who gives up on their garden. But without knowing your soil, drainage, and site conditions, even the most determined homeowner is working against the odds.

The Chemical Fix — Herbicides, pesticides, and home brews
The weeds and pests don’t stop — so neither do you.
Sure, that can quiet things down for a season, but it addresses symptoms rather than causes. And those treatments quietly damage the soil ecosystem you’ll need when you’re ready to grow something beautiful.

The Information Search — YouTube, forums, and garden center advice
You go looking for answers — and you find them, in pieces. A YouTube video for the drainage question, a Facebook group thread for the soil amendment question, a garden center employee for the plant selection question. Useful in the moment, but nothing connects. Without a framework organized around how your garden works, every question leads to more questions — and the confidence you’re looking for stays just out of reach.

Garden Vision Owner Kate
Meet your guide.

I came from high-tech. Good career, wrong fit. Designing gardens with art and science, perfect fit.

Kate Easton — landscape designer, Certified Professional Horticulturist, ecoPRO, and founder of Garden Vision LLC — with more than 30 years reading what a garden needs and more than 350 landscape design clients.

MS, Agriculture, Washington State University (graduate study: sustainable horticulture) and Landscape Architecture studies mean every design decision is rooted in science and design principles, not instinct.

Your Garden Wishes deserve a design that’s co-created with you, grounded in your site, and yours to grow.

The Academy isn’t open just yet, but your garden’s questions don’t wait.
Begin with one conversation. I’d love to hear your garden story.

Begin with one conversation. I’d love to hear your garden story.

This is your community, if…

  • You want to understand your garden, not just look at it. When something isn’t working — a plant keeps struggling, the drainage is off, the soil feels wrong — you want to know why, not just fix the symptom. Growing more confident as a gardener matters as much to you as growing a beautiful garden.
  • You believe what happens in your yard matters beyond your property line. The idea that one homeowner’s choices can restore habitat, rebuild soil health, and partner with nature instead of fighting it — that resonates with you deeply. Stewardship isn’t a word you use lightly.
  • You’re ready to do some or all of this yourself — and you want to learn alongside someone who can explain the why behind what you’re seeing, not just tell you what to plant. You’re not looking to hand it off. You’re looking for the right resources at the right time, and a community that’s been where you are.
  • You think in seasons — and in generations. A beautiful, sustainable garden refuge isn’t built overnight; it grows through patient decisions layered over time, shaped by Slow Knowledge earned through careful observation and practice. The idea of tending a landscape with the next seven generations in mind doesn’t sound like a stretch to you — it sounds like the point. You want to be part of a community that thinks the same way.

And it’s not the right fit if…

  • Garden Vision Academy thrives on participation — questions asked, discoveries shared, and learning that deepens through community. If you’re in a season where independent exploration feels more natural than an engaged community, there’s real wisdom in knowing that about yourself. There’s no wrong answer here — the timing may simply not be right.
  • You want someone else to handle your garden entirely — decisions, implementation, all of it. That’s a completely valid approach, and it’s what a GardenVisionScape and trusted contractors are for. GVA is for homeowners who want to be an active part of their garden’s story, not just the outcome.
  • You need results by the weekend — plants in, problem solved, done. Gardens don’t work on that timeline, and neither does GVA. If speed is the priority right now, a garden center or landscaping crew will serve you better than we can.
  • You don’t share the belief that what we do in our yards has a real impact on the Earth. That’s a reasonable position — and it isn’t compatible with how Garden Vision thinks and works. Stewardship runs through every resource, every conversation, every recommendation we make. If that philosophy isn’t yours, you deserve a community that shares your view of the work.

If you’re still reading — this is your community.
Welcome home.

Gardens don't stay still between seasons — and neither do the questions.

The Library is your first stop: curated guides, how-tos, and best practices built around the Garden for Life Roadmap, right where you need them.

But when a guide doesn’t cover your specific situation — your soil, your slope, your particular Garden Woe — bring your question to the Community Conversation Room. We’ll explore options and get back to you. You won’t be left at a dead end.

No matter where you start — Seedling, Cultivator, or Steward — the promise is the same: there’s always somewhere to turn, and someone who knows what they’re talking about will answer.

Your garden keeps growing. So do you.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can join at any point on your garden journey. Garden Vision Academy is built around the Garden for Life Roadmap — which means it works whether you’re starting from scratch, in mid-project, or stepping into something already planted. No prior Garden Vision experience required. Just a garden (outside or inside) and some questions.

Both can be useful. The Academy is different in kind, not just degree. YouTube and forums give you more content than you can act on — and no organizing framework to tell you what matters for your garden right now. The Academy is organized around the Garden for Life Roadmap: what you’re learning connects to the phase you’re in, the season you’re observing, the question in front of you. Understanding grows. When that question is specific to your soil, your slope, or your particular Garden Woe, the Community Conversation Room puts it in front of an award-winning landscape designer — not a comment section.
